I found a Ben's bell the other night.. I was in a lot of emotional pain... I had a really rough day as a caregiver to my elderly father and it was made
worse.. I was trying to do an act of kindness for my son.. but it backfired.. he is mentally ill and sometimes when he doesnt get his way.. he screams
and cusses and gets really mean.. he is an adult.. but doesnt act like it.. its aweful.. He wont take his meds..so we never know when he will blow up..
I took him to find a new office chair.. his old one is dirty and broken.. so I thought it would be nice to get him a new one.. we went to officemax and he
could not find any he liked.. except the $300 one! I could not do that.. and he didnt want any others..so he became more and more agitated as we headed home.. I usually have to go for a walk.. stop the vehicle and get out while he yells and pounds his fists.. and this was such a time.. I was in a lot of emotional pain as I had tried to do something nice..I had to get out of the vehicle.. and.. I walked.. and .. found a Bens Bell.. it touched my heart deeply.. and was a totally unexpected gift.. I made it home with only one more stop..
I lost a son years ago.. and the pain is deep and raw.. and unabiding.. I know very well the pain of this kind of loss.. so this story is very meaningful to me..
Even tho my son is mentally ill.. I thank God for giving me another son..

Our daughter, Rachel was swinging in her favorite park.when we found one hanging on the monkey bars at 7 in the morning. It was very special to her, as she had just visited Ben's Bells with her Special Needs class from Sahuaro High School. Rachel has a traumatic brain injury and partially paralyzed and thrives off making others 'happy'. We are going to start coming to Ben's Bells for volunteering and I know it will make her smile =)

Friday night I hosted book club at my house and was telling one of our members, Mary Reed, a survivor of the January 8th, 2011 shootings in Tucson, how much I enjoyed her story in the newspaper about how her experience had effected her and how she had been inspired to be kind to others. Today, January 15th, I found a Ben's bell. I am very familiar with the program, and recently had my class of special education students in the studio to help make the bell parts. I was honored to find a bell when I visited my dad at Fairwinds desert point retirement community.

While walking in the Tanuri Ridge neighborhood with two dear freinds this morning, I noticed a yellow clay daisy on the ground beneath a tree. I immediately reognized it as a Ben's Bell, that had fallen from the tree. The bell's card has the January 8th message. I will laminate the card and then my friends and I are going to hang the bell on a tree in our neighborhood that shades a beautiful memorial plague to our dear freind, Margarita Berg. Margarita united many people in her vast circle of friends. This bell is a wonderful tribute to Ben and to Margarita, as it reminds those who walk past the tree to "spread kindness."

I work as a corrections officer at ASPC-Tucson. I am the supervisor for an inmate crew that helps to build Habitat for Humanity houses. Today, while checking on my inmates at Corazon del Pueblo, I turned the corner from Camino Alberge onto Comunidad. I looked to my left and then I looked again. I found a Ben's Bell. How awesome and my favorite color to boot!! My crew say that I deserve the bell for reminding that they have purpose and abilities that can be used for good. Thanks to whoever left the bell. It made my day. I promise to pay it forward!!

I walked Pima Canyon on Tuesday with my best friend. On the way in we were just casually strolling along and talking about our daily lives and enjoying the view. We turned around to leave and walked all the way back out with myself in the lead as I was the "observant one". I walked right out of the trailhead when I heard my best friend exclaim "oh my gosh!" I turned around and she said "I found a Bens Bell" and there about two feet from my head was a beautiful bell hanging from a tree. I truly believe it was divine intervention that she saw the bell and I did not. Recently, she suffered a personal tragedy and is such an amazing person and I am convinced that this was a reminder from God that he loves her, sees her and wants to bless her. She was so happy and I know has joy in her heart each time she looks at this bell. Thank you!

My Grandaughter is in the 10th grade at Flowing Wells high school. .The other day she came home and asked me to buy a backpack and some things to go in it. I asked her why, she said there was a boy on the bus that had a backpack that was in really bad shape. She didn't even really know this boy.I got it and she gave it to the lady in the office to give to him, cause she wasn't sure where to find him. She has always been a sweet girl but that just got my heart string..Thank you Hanna Culver for being so kind.

Today I came home and found a lovely gift of kindness attached to a shrub by my front door! I didn't know what it was and my friend and her daughter who dropped me off both knew instantly that it was a Bens Bell! I read the card and brought it inside checking out your website, I am overwhelmed with joy and hope! My bell has a butterfly on it and references the people affected by the shootings January 8, 2011. Recently I have helping support the Christina Taylor Green Foundation, Christina loved butterflies and to me it all just clicked! Thank you so much for reminding me that no matter how busy we are, kindness is always the path to choose and giving of ourselves is what our community and world needs to thrive! I would love to pay it forward and donate my services to help you out! Please just let me know if you would benefit from having a photographer capture your events or portraits. It would be my pleasure to help out in any way I can.

I picked up my boys from school and we stopped by to grab a bite to eat, we pulled over to eat our food before going to church. My son Ethan got all excited and yelled out "Mom, Mom I found a Ben's Bell, pull over hurry, hurry". I pulled over and sure thing there was a beutiful bell hanging from the tree. Ethan was so happy to have found one, the smile on his face was just priceless. I was so happy that he had found one, I said baby that bell was meant for you to find, there is so much traffic in this area and you are the one that found this bell it was meant for you and what a great way to end your day with something so beautiful. Ethan called his aunt Nina who is a teacher, they were both so excited I could just hear the excitement on his voice as well as hers (they were loud). This beautiful touch of art made my son Ethan's day yesterday that he woke up today with that same smile and ready to share kindness. Thank you for this beutiful touch it really brought a smile to all of us....

My mother-in law and I left the house this afternoon antsy from waiting for the call to tell us that my father-in law's mom had died. We went to drop off my script for physical therapy. I missed the turn and ended up having to turn around in the parking lot of Northwest Medical Center. As we went through the parking lot my mom-in-law said I wish we could see one of the Ben's Bells and right then I saw one hanging in the tree. We stopped and she took it down form the tree. When we arrived back home we learned that close to the same time we found the bell my dad-in-law had received the call that his mother had died. I told my mom-in law that God had saved that bell for us to find so we would feel His love for us and His grace for Grandma. 50-100 people must have passed by that bell either driving or walking yet there it was for us to find.

I found a Ben's bell today on my way into work in an office park. It was hanging from a large potted plant. I had always read about the bells, but never dreamed I would find one. My whole day was started on a great note. I had been off for a few days because of my birthday and had the Monday blahs.....that all changed with the bell. I had a smile on my face and an extra lift in my step. Thank you so much for these random acts of kindness. I told everyone who called me today about this event. Thank you.

My son found a Ben's Bell today on his walk home from school. He had just learned about Ben's Bells last week in class and so as he was approaching the
Stop sign leading into our neighborhood and saw it, he instantly knew what he had received. He ran in the house to tell me. We felt so touched by the message and the timing. We jumped around and hugged and immediately hung it on the wall in our kitchen. My son said "I was anticipating what you would do when I came in with it". "What did you expect?", I asked. "I hoped you would smile and jump up and down...and you did". Mom and son (who is 15 years old by the way) jumped and hugged like we were both 3 years old in honor of Ben.

I vividly recall the events of January 8, 2011. The Safeway where the shooting happened is close to my house. I considered going grocery shopping there, and went to another store instead. I learned of the shooting while I was in the checkout line. One year later, I was walking my dogs in a little empty field across the street from my home. I usually do not walk the dogs on Sunday. As I walked towards a small tree, where I usually do not walk, I saw something hanging on a branch. It was a Ben's Bell, with a note attached saying to take the bell home, hang it up and spread the kindness. I carefully removed the bell from the branch but kept looking over my shoulder wondering when the rightful owner would come to claim it. I feel so blessed by the angel who placed the bell on that little tree. That one small act of kindness made my whole day. My daughter hung the bell in our living room as a reminder to our family to be kind to others each day.
